The PGA Tour and DP World Tour announced a 13-year joint venture to strengthen their strategic alliance in the face of the LIV Golf threat. What does it mean for Australia?
The DP World Tour suffered at least a temporary blow in its battle with LIV Golf on Monday when Sport Resolutions in the United Kingdom issued a stay of the suspensions the tour levied against three players after they competed in LIV’s inaugural event last month in London.
The battle for golf’s future has featured two main characters: the PGA Tour, fronted by commissioner Jay Monahan, and LIV Golf, headed by CEO Greg Norman.
According to PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan and European Tour chief executive Keith Pelley, these schedule alterations were the first of more touch-ups to come.
While the schedule is solid through until the end of October, the European Tour already has back-up plans in place – two more possible “swings” – that are ready to step in if some of the events at the end of the year don’t come to fruition.
