Yin probably didn’t realise that the internet was always going to pounce on this take, because PGA Frisco is set to host a LOT of big-time golf championships in the coming years.
This marks the sixth time since 1999 the championship has been played on a course that’s never previously hosted a US Open, joining Pinehurst No.2 (1999), Bethpage’s Black Course (2002), Torrey Pines’ South Course (2008), Chambers Bay (2015) and Erin Hills (2017).
The club has worked very closely with council during the past six months or so and has made a number of changes to its Championship Course DA to incorporate Council and Woollahra Community feedback on the landscape and ecological aspects of its golf course restoration project.
Last weekend’s Walker Cup matches at Los Angeles Country Club provided an insight into how the US Golf Association might set up the club’s vaunted North course for the 2023 US Open.
