The powerlines near the tee on the ninth hole at the Country Club of Jackson struck again. They got Sam Burns last year, but in the second round at the 2023 Sanderson Farms Championship, they didn’t lay a glove on Australian Harrison Endycott.
While all eyes were elsewhere on welcoming the latest young gun to the sport, Sam Burns quietly and confidently captured the Sanderson Farms Championship.
The Spaniard ranked third in strokes gained/approach-the-green, picking up more than seven shots on the field while also leading the field in greens in regulation, missing just 12 greens over 72 holes.
For much of the round, it looked as though Peter Malnati had done enough to claim his second Sanderson Farms Championship. Sergio Garcia had other ideas…
