It’s good to be Scottie Scheffler right now. His win at the Players Championship was his second victory at a designated event in 2023, and with the record prizemoney on the PGA Tour these days, the 26-year-old’s season earnings now add up to $US10.59 million … with all four Majors and many more big-money events still to go.

Well, it turns out, it’s also good to be one particular punter at FanDuel Sportsbook. The betting operator shared that one of its customers netted a $US3.3 million ($4.9m) payday on their Scheffler outright ticket after they placed a $300,000 wager before the tournament started.

Talk about conviction. Or just having so much money you don’t know what to do with.

We don’t know the identity of that high-roller just yet, but we might find out. The total eclipses the $US1.2 million payout that James Adducci earned on his $85,000 bet on Tiger Woods to win the 2019 Masters.

Of course, we can assume that if you have $300,000 sitting around and are firing it on golf outrights, $3.3 million is probably not going to be too life-changing. Not to mention, after taxes get taken out, well, it won’t be nearly as much money in cash. But it’s still a bigger gross number than second-place finisher at TPC Sawgrass, Tyrrell Hatton, will end up keeping. So this guy is certainly winning.

Now, we need his Masters pick…
