T-Rail

Cobra has been using rails on the soles of its woods and hybrids to enhance turf interaction for decades. (Remember the original Baffler fairway wood, the invention of the late Australian, Tom Crow?) The T-Rail super-game-improvement irons feature this same rail technology as part of a hollow, hybrid-like body throughout the set. The forged face insert is made from a springy 17-4 stainless steel that features the company’s E9 face, which boasts thin pockets from heel to toe designed to enhance ball speed over a large portion of the hitting area. The Baffler rails on the sole not only help move the clubs effortlessly through the turf but they combine with the wide soles and hollow-body construction to ensure additional mass is low to foster a low, deep centre of gravity to help get the ball airborne – a critical need for this iron’s target audience. The 4-iron is a true hybrid construction, and the company offers the option to extend that to a 5 and 6-hybrid through a custom order. The stock shaft is lightweight at 50 grams, and the grip is Lamkin’s REL midsize. Cobra is known as a brand that produces helpful equipment for golfers who really need it. The T-Rail is yet another example.

Reviewer profile

“Easy to launch with a forgiving shot spread. The sound off the club is a quick, aggressive ping that ignites the ball.”
