Where can you find the best view at TPC Sawgrass? Conventional wisdom would say one of the luxury boxes behind the 17th hole’s iconic island green, but conventional wisdom is too boring, too safe. No, if you want the best view of the Players Championship, you have to take a bit of risk. Don’t take our word for it, though. Just check out this incredible (and incredibly nerve-wracking) video of what an NBC tower camera operator sees at the PGA Tour’s flagship event.

If this isn’t the best seat in the house, we don’t know what it is, but it’s not for the faint of heart. In the video, we see the camera operator strapped to the tower with seatbelts and duct tape. Now imagine being several storeys in the air on a makeshift steel tower in round three’s 35mph winds or today’s thunderstorms. As good as the views may be, that’s a hard pass for this writer.

Still, though, this provides an awesome look at everything that goes into producing a championship-level golf broadcast and the talented (and, in some cases, brave) professionals that make it possible. Our hat goes off this guy and other sports cameraman like him. Enjoy the views, but we’re just fine down here.
