Tiger Woods’ Tour Championship triumph sent the golf world into a tizzy on Sunday. It also produced perhaps the biggest batch of sports prediction mea culpas in history.
They may have been left in the wake of the coronation of the Tiger Woods comeback but Aussie trio Cameron Smith, Jason Day and Marc Leishman had plenty of cause for celebration at the conclusion of the Tour Championship.
Such a performance is not only testimony to Woods’ resolve in coming back from career-threatening injuries, but also how Woods re-worked almost his entire bag during the course of 2018, something the normally reticent-to-change Woods fully embraced.
There are equations, calculations and a multitude of different scenarios but for the three Australians vying for the 2018 FedEx Cup title, a universal truth that remains: they must win the Tour Championship.
