Shane Warne isn’t short of achievements over his long and decorated sporting career.

The cricket legend chalked up 145 Test appearances for his country, jagged 708 wickets at an average of 25.41, and won world cups and Ashes urns like they were going out of fashion. He’s even shot a 71 at St Andrews!

But the spin king may have topped all that at the weekend.

Warnie, a golf tragic who plays off single figures in Melbourne, scored his first ever hole-in-one. OK, OK, no big deal, right? Wrong. Warnie achieved the feat at golf’s hollowed turf – Augusta National. Better yet, it was at the par-3 16th – a hole made famous by Tiger’s otherworldly chip-in at the 2005 Masters. Remember this:

While there is no video footage of Warnie’s “Wow” moment, he did confirm the details: “155 yards to a back right pin into the wind! Hit a 6 iron, one hop and in,” he tweeted after being congratulated by one of his followers.

“Can’t believe it !!!!!!!!! [sic] Was my first ever hole in one & what a place and pin to do it.”

Before the round Warne said he would be happy to break 90 at Augusta.

While his final score is yet to be confirmed, a scorecard from Augusta National with “1” scribbled on hole 16 will surely make the top shelf in his trophy cabinet.

Some blokes just have all the luck … or talent!
