You’ve probably seen tour pros trying out old golf equipment, but you can really see how difficult the activity is when Protracer technology is applied. The European Tour held a Hickory Challenge after the third round of the European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club and offered a better look at the trajectories of the tee shots of Danny Willett, Lee Westwood and Miguel Angel Jimenez. Not surprisingly, they’re not very pretty. Check it out:

Actually, Westwood manages somewhat of a piercing ball flight, although his ball ends up in a fairway bunker. And Westwood wound up winning the two-hole challenge – which included players dressing in throwback clothes in addition to using clubs from the 1920s – by beating Willett in a closest-to-the-pin chip-off. As someone who has never been known for having a short game, perhaps, Lee will keep that hickory wedge in his bag.
