AUGUSTA, Ga. — The Augusta National Women’s Amateur has the greatest consolation prize in sports. Missing the 36-hole cut is disappointing, but all players in the field this week still had the opportunity to play a practice round at Augusta National on Friday.

But it doesn’t end there. After their round, players can also book a tee time on the Par-3 Course to round out their day, which many in the field did.

None are more glad they stayed and played the extra nine than Duke’s Andie Smith, whose slam-dunk hole-in-one captured from a unique angle should rank among the most satisfying ace video ever taken. Take a look.

Now, of course, aces are very common on the club’s Par-3 Course, and we’re sure to see many more next Wednesay during the annual Masters Par-3 Tournament, but the traditional route is to use the numerous slopes to feed the ball to friendly hole locations.

Slam dunk? Well, not even Smith could believe it. Hands above her head in disbelief, Smith looked back and forth at the hole and her former teammate Phoebe Brinker and Duke commit Avery McCreery, before ultimately embracing each.

It’s even more of a fitting consolation prize for Smith, who after opening the championship with a three-under 69, shot 75 on Thursday to miss the cut by one shot. But, hey, there’s always this video.

The final round of the ANWA gets underway on Saturday morning, with the final pairing of co-leaders Lottie Woad and Kiara Romero teeing off at 10:20 a.m. ET.
