Tiger Woods has taken to Twitter to thank golfers and fans for their love and support over the past week, which culminated with several PGA Tour players donning his traditional “Sunday Red” attire as a tribute during this morning’s final round of the WGC-Workday Championship.
Woods, who has been in hospital since the horror car crash that left him with horrific injuries to his right leg, ankle and foot, hasn’t been seen or heard of since the accident as he continues to recover after multiple operations.
However, the 15-time Major winner let the golf world know how appreciative he was this morning, tweeting: “It’s hard to explain how touching today was when I turned on the TV and saw all the red shirts. To every golfer and every fan, you are truly helping me get through this tough time.”

Woods’ comments come after he underwent “follow-up procedures on his injuries” Saturday (AEDT), according to a statement posted to his Twitter account. “The procedures were successful, and he is now recovering and in good spirits,” the statement said. There were no further details.
Woods had the follow-up procedures done at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre after being moved there to continue his recovery from serious leg injuries sustained in a single-car accident on Wednesday. Woods originally had been at Harbor-UCLA Medical Centre.

The move was announced in a statement by Dr Anish Mahajan, interim CEO/CMO of Harbor-UCLA Medical Centre, on Friday.
“On behalf of our staff,” the statement reads, “it was an honour to provide orthopaedic trauma care to one of our generation’s greatest athletes.”
Woods suffered comminuted open fractures to both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula bones of his right leg, as well as damage to the bones in the right foot and ankle. During an initial surgical procedure on Wednesday, doctors stabilised the fractures with a rod in the tibia, and inserted rods and pins into the foot/ankle area. Woods also sustained trauma to the muscle and soft tissue of the right leg, which required surgical release of the covering of the muscles to relieve pressure.
There is no indication yet of when Woods might be released from the hospital or when he could return to his home in South Florida.
