Tiger Woods is in the midst of yet another comeback right now. We haven’t seen him play competitive golf since the Masters, and yet we know he’s been quietly grinding away behind the scenes, whether it be lifting weights or getting “1,000 contacts with a club” in per day. The general fan doesn’t get to see most of these drills and workouts, but it sounds like Woods’ fellow tour pros never hear the end of it.

While on air during the first round of the Hero World Challenge, Brandel Chamblee revealed that Woods will text other pro golfers motivational messages at 4 o’clock in the morning such as, “I’m in the gym. What are you doing to get better?” This could also be easily construed as sledging, and because it’s Tiger, there’s a very good chance it’s a bit of both.

This isn’t new for the 15-time major winner who’s discussed his ludicrous training regimen in the past and is well-known for his hard work while the rest of us are sound asleep.

While on the course with Peyton Manning in 2019, Woods admitted that he works out between 3:30 and 5am most days. Normal human stuff.

In 2017, we wrote about how Rory McIlroy’s then-fiancée Erica Stoll hated it when Tiger would text McIlroy in the middle of the night from the gym.

“Erica actually got p–sed off with it,” he said. “He was texting me in the middle of the night and I was like, ‘Tiger is in the gym.'”

So this Chamblee tidbit isn’t anything new, but it’s good to hear that Woods is still his insane, ridiculously dedicated self. While the rest of the PGA Tour is hitting the snooze button, Woods is getting his reps in, probably with another green jacket in the back of his mind. Did you expect anything different?
