A Monday playoff between Jason Day and Alex Noren at the Farmers Insurance Open delayed the release of this week’s Official World Golf Ranking. And when it finally came out, two unsurprising things happened: both players moved up and Tiger Woods made another big jump.

Woods’ T-23 in his US PGA Tour return at Torrey Pines vaulted him up 108 spots, from No.647 to No.539. Of course, this isn’t a huge deal to someone who has spent a record 683 weeks in the top spot during his illustrious career, but it is the highest Woods has been ranked in two years.

Meanwhile, Day moved up four spots to No.10 with his 11th US Tour win, while Noren improved three spots to No.16. The top seven remained unchanged with Dustin Johnson staying at No.1 for a 50th consecutive week.

Despite hitting only three of 14 fairways in each of his final three rounds, Woods managed to shoot par or better all four days. It was Woods’ first official US PGA Tour event since last year’s Farmers Insurance Open and it marked his first cut made on tour since the 2015 Wyndham Championship.

Woods was ranked as low as No.1,199 before finishing T-9 last month at the Hero World Challenge to move up to No.668. The 14-time Major champ will tee it up next at the Genesis Open in two weeks.
