Rory McIlroy found the water, twice, and racked up a triple-bogey 8, at the par-5 16th at the K Club that ended his hopes of chasing down eventual Irish Open winner, Vincent Norrman. Somehow, though, the finish to the 2023 Irish Open was just as entertaining as McIlroy’s 2016 victory at the K Club.
Norrman, a 25-year-old Swede made an up-and-down par on the first extra hole at Keene Trace Golf Club in Kentucky, to defeat England’s Nathan Kimsey, who was on the verge of becoming the first player to win in his PGA Tour debut since Jim Benepe won the Western Open in 1988.
