The PGA Tour sent out a memo to its players on Monday evening (Tuesday afternoon, AEDT) announcing that world No.3 Jon Rahm, who signed a deal last week to play for LIV Golf, has been suspended, an expected move that will have a positive domino effect for numerous players.
In an e-mailed statement, the tour said Vince India and Jake Staiano placed bets on PGA Tour competitions, though did not bet on tournaments in which they were participants.
Although he averaged 290.2 yards off the tee – 6.4 yards longer than driving distance leader Davis Love III – in the 17 events and 51 rounds he played that year, Daly’s name is not included among the official stats leaders.
The DP World Tour suffered at least a temporary blow in its battle with LIV Golf on Monday when Sport Resolutions in the United Kingdom issued a stay of the suspensions the tour levied against three players after they competed in LIV’s inaugural event last month in London.
