The move is not a permanent one, as this is now the third different analyst for NBC’s golf coverage in 2024 as the network continues to try to find a replacement for Paul Azinger, whose contract was not renewed this past November.
Kisner is expected to make a brief TV appearance during today’s coverage before assuming the seat next to play-by-play man Dan Hicks for the final two rounds, on Sunday and Monday (Australian time).
Sarcasm is Kevin Kisner’s second language – the PGA Tour veteran from Aiken, South Carolina, armed with a dry wit that lets him hold court among his fellow players when they’re gabbing on the driving range.
The timesheet is unorthodox, but it’s set up so that while you are going to miss seeing some players on television during the final round, theoretically you’ll get to see all of the leaders’ rounds.
To be fair, while Azinger’s tone and cadence were measured, his comments felt unnecessarily acidic. Trying to belittle the European Tour to make his case isn’t right. That doesn’t mean Azinger was wrong.
