A request has been filed by PGA Tour attorneys seeking a new trial date in its battle with LIV Golf, along with an extension to the document discovery process.
The request was filed in the Federal District Court in San Jose, California, where LIV Golf initially filed its antitrust lawsuit against the tour last August.
Along with Chamblee, Reed now is also targeting Golf Channel broadcasters Shane Bacon, Damon Hack and Eamon Lynch, as well as their media companies Golfweek and Gannett.
Of the 11 players that initially were part of the lawsuit filed in August, only three remain: Australia’s Matt Jones, Peter Uihlein and Bryson DeChambeau.
Patrick Reed, the former Masters champion who left the PGA Tour for LIV Golf this year, on Wednesday brought a lawsuit against Golf Channel and commentator Brandel Chamblee and is seeking damages for defamation.
In mid-February, as speculation ran rampant about which PGA Tour players might be bound for the new Saudi-backed league, reports emerged that Bryson DeChambeau had been offered a nine-figure deal to jump ship.
