The NSW Government has confirmed Moore Park Golf Course will be reduced from 18 holes to a reconfigured 12-hole layout from July 1, marking a significant shift in one of Sydney’s most contentious golf and public-space debates.
The long-awaited draft plans, which the government will release for public feedback today, include a reconfigured nine-hole golf course and an expanded 90-bay driving range at Moore Park South.
The NSW Government’s controversial plan to scrap nine holes from Moore Park Golf Club has become a hot topic in the Australian federal election after the Coalition pledged $1 million to back an alternative proposal aimed at maintaining an 18-hole layout.
The proposal features three kilometres of running, walking and cycling paths, adventure and nature playgrounds, a footy field, skate park, BMX track, fitness trail and dog park with a reduced 18-hole public golf course and high-tech driving range.
