Early leader Paula Reto, a 33-year-old South African making her fifth career Evian start, soaked up the views and had fun in the first round in France.
It was a brutal start for Perrine Delacour at the Amundi Evian Championship on Thursday as the Frenchwoman playing in her native country began the tournament seven over thru eight holes. But on her ninth hole, she finally had something good happen. And it led to one of the best on-course celebrations of the year.
For the 29th time an Australian enters a Major championship as the defending champion and for Minjee Lee, it is the first of two inside the next 12 months.
Played at the Evian Resort Golf Club in July, the Amundi Evian Championship will award its winner $US1 million. In 2021, the winner – Australia’s Minjee Lee – took home $US675,000.
