The New South Wales Government’s plans to seize nine holes of Sydney’s busy Moore Park Golf Course and turn it into a park have angered golfers far and wide. But if you think they’re all rich, white males that are upset, think again.

Dear Premier Minns,

Hi, my name is Lucy Misios, and I am five-and-a-half years old.

I want to talk to you about something that is really important to me. I love playing golf, and I have been playing at Moore Park Golf since I was two years old. It’s my special place to have fun and learn new things.

Moore Park Golf is so good for kids like me. It’s child-friendly, and my parents say it’s cheap for them, which is really nice. We come to Moore Park every weekend. My little brother Andy plays too – he always brings his dinosaurs or Transformers.

I have so many friends who also love playing golf at Moore Park. We come here during our school holidays for golf camp. We even get to go on the course with our coach, AK, and drive the golf buggies! If you take it away, I don’t know where we will go.

I want to be the best golfer in the world when I grow up, and Moore Park’s 18-hole course helps me practise and get better.

I was wondering if golf is important to you, too? Because it’s super-important to me.

I hope you can think about kids like me who love golf and need a place to play. Please don’t take away nine holes of our special golf course at Moore Park. I would be really sad.

Thank you for reading, Premier Minns. I hope you can help us keep Moore Park as is for kids like me, who dream of being great golfers one day.

Lucy
