We love watching the best players in the world do things to the golf ball that us weekend golfers can only dream of. But . . . we also like seeing them humbled from time to time as well. It’s only fair they know how we feel sometimes, right?

That’s why so many fans—and even at least one PGA Tour winner—was so excited to watch the Players Championship this weekend. Throw high winds into the mix with Pete Dye’s tricky TPC Sawgrass and the pressure of trying to win one of golf’s biggest events and you’ve got a recipe for some explosions. (See: Will Zalatoris late on Saturday.)

So that’s what made it so refreshing to hear what Billy Horschel had to say during a walk-and-talk interview with NBC Sports during that difficult third round. Always one to tell it like it is, a struggling—at least, for him—Horschel delivered perhaps the most relatable golf quote ever. Have a listen:

“I have no God-honest control of my golf swing,” Horschel says, “and I don’t know where the golf ball is going right now so I’m trying to get into the house as fast as I can.”

Normal hackers all around the world who start thinking about the 19th hole as teeing off nodded their heads in agreement with that one. Good for you, Billy, for saying that. Especially during a week when golfers speaking to the media has been a hot topic!

Horschel wound up getting to the house in 77 strokes. A tough day for an eight-time PGA Tour winner, but a score 99.99 percent of golfers would sign up for. Regardless, on behalf of all those chops out there, thank you, Billy.
