Campbelltown Golf Club has opened its new entertainment precinct that includes four new Trackman simulators as part of a multi-million dollar clubhouse refurbishment in southwest Sydney.
‘The Bays Golf Simulators’ are a welcome addition for the Glen Alpine facility in the Macarthur region that complement a challenging 18-hole layout designed by course architect Bob Harrison in the 1970s.

The four simulators feature the latest Trackman iO (Indoor Optimised) launch monitors with radar, infrared and high-speed imaging to deliver real-time club and ball analytics.
Golfers have access to a virtual library of 490 world-class courses on the Trackman software, including The Old Course at St Andrews, Royal Melbourne, Tasmania’s Barnbougle Dunes, Sydney’s Bonnie Doon, US Open venue Oakmont and Ryder Cup host Bethpage (Black).
Campbelltown Catholic Club funded the golf club’s extensive renovation, which includes a refurbished dining precinct with kitchen and bistro, outdoor terrace area with gas heating and open firepit, a new entrance/foyer as well as the entertainment area with four Trackman simulators.
Having signed a new 50-year lease with Campbelltown City Council in 2023, the Catholic Club was comfortable committing funds for the clubhouse renovation.
“The members are very, very happy. They’re delighted with what we’ve done. They’ve been very patient during the building works,” says Campbelltown Golf Club general manager David Turner.
The Macarthur region is adequately catered for with 18-hole golf courses. However Sydney’s southwest growth corridor lacked dedicated outdoor and indoor practice facilities. The nearest public driving range is at Milperra next to Bankstown Airport while X-Golf at Smeaton Grange had been the only indoor facility to service the entire Campbelltown/Camden/Wollondilly Shire area.

A frequent enquiry from visitors to Campbelltown had been whether the course has a public driving range. The existing practice area is severely sloped and limited to a 6-iron due to boundary constraints with the proximity of houses in the surrounding neighbourhood.
Turner says: “One of the drivers for getting the sims was because we can have a practice range along with 490-plus golf courses from around the world. Plus games for kids, on-line play, etc. It also gives our members somewhere to do proper practice with live metrics, high-speed cameras accessing all of their game. We can also do clubfittings in it.”
“For three months you can have a certain amount of hours per week for a weekly cost. We do social play as well. So we will be able to hire the bays out for anybody. It’s a fantastic accompaniment for our food-and-beverage trade.”
The Bays Golf Simulators can be booked for social play from $50 for one hour and $90 for two hours. A 30-minute pre-round warmup is $25 while six one-hour sessions per week cost $79.
Campbelltown Golf Club has now returned to trading seven days a week, which it abandoned during COVID. With the new facilities, the club intends to host live entertainment on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons all year round.
