Jason Day has revealed Masters officials asked him to tone down “scripted” outfits for the first round at Augusta National.
The former world No.1 and major winner caused a social media meltdown at Augusta National a year ago, when he played the first round of the the April major with Tiger Woods and sported a loud sweater vest with “Malbon Championship,” a fictitious golf tournament, emblazoned on the front. It was a ‘cigarette carton’ vest and he was asked to remove it by tournament officials after the round.

The Queenslander said that put him on the “short list” of players who needed to clear their clothing plan with the Masters ahead of the 2025 event.
“We had to send it in; we kind of cut everything in half with what we’re supposed to wear,” Day said on Tuesday at Augusta about his planned Thursday attire. “They said ‘that’s a little bit much,’ but that’s okay. We’ll do what we can with what we have fashion-wise and enjoy playing the tournament.
“It’s good. I understand. We’re here for the tournament. This is why we come every April. We’re here to play the tournament and I understand.”
