It’s been a busy start to the new year in the wild and wondrous world of golf style. The rumors, it turns out, are true: Tiger Woods called it quits with Nike, after amassing a reported $500 million, joining a suite of other pros parting ways with the brand. Earlier this year, Jason Day nearly broke the internet with the news that he’d left Nike to rep Malbon, the California street-style golf and lifestyle brand founded by husband-and-wife duo Stephen and Erica Malbon in 2017. Shortly after, the apparel company announced it signed an additional three pros to their new, enviable roster: LPGA pros Charley Hull and Jeongeun Lee (a.k.a. Lee6), as well as five-time PGA Tour champion Jesper Parnevik.
Hull has become known for her stylish looks and fearless fashion sense. She previously wore Anew on tour, another brand known for making a statement in golf. With a T-7 finish in the season-opening Tournament of Champions over the weekend, Hull did not disappoint in her debut tournament as a Malbon ambassador.
She started the week out in a powder blue mockneck over an airy white pleated skirt. The look was led by the details—an assemetric hem finish on the skirt and a tall socks repping Malbon’s golf ball “Buckets” logo. On Friday, she wore an all pink outfit that balanced athletic styling with country club prep expertly. As temperatures dropped into the weekend, Hull layered up a black vest over a olive mockneck long sleeve shirt over rain pants before switching to leggings when things warmed up. Hull has been a supporter of leggings in golf—and strong, golf-appropriate looks like this certainly show how leggings can (and should) be worn on the course.
Hull’s final-round look featured a simple white vest over a white mock with fun hits of the Malbon logo found at the elbow of the long sleeved shirt, on the stretch elastic side panel of the vest and on a subtle emboidered patch at the chest. This strong four-day outfiting demonstrates the depth of Malbon’s women’s offering, ranging from high fashion pieces to more everyday lifestlye-inspired options.

While we haven’t seen the entire crew tee it up on their respective tours just yet, all four of the brand’s new ambassadors are stylish in their own right and seem excited to be repping a more “disruptive” golf brand they can sport on and off the course. For a brand made famous with innovative, unique, accessible, and trendy pieces (that often sell out almost instantly), the capsule also features more pared down styles, like the new row of boxy polos or practical, sleek windbreakers, in classic color schemes of navy, white, gray, and sometimes a pop of red or forest green.

In the promo video dropped as part of the announcement, Hull could be seen hitting shots on a sunny day in a yellow ochre knit pleated skirt with a faux-frayed geometric statement hem: a perfect example of the kind of classic materials and tailoring, with a twist, that customers internationally associate with the brand.
Playfully old-school, with trendy elements that wink to the wearer, the Malbons hoped when they first started the brand that it would signal a more relaxed, inclusive approach to the sport. That was a promise re-upped when they (finally) launched their women’s line last year.

Stylish, suspender-sporter Parnevik, who is 58 years old, formed a relationship with Malbon along with his daughter in 2022 when they first talked to the company about repping a yacht club-inspired capsule. Both Lee6 and Hull are known for enjoying fashion and style, on and off the course, and were looking for a trendy, but still performance-minded brand partnership with a more global reach. We can’t help but feel a younger brand, with a broader aesthetic, makes sense—despite audience surprise—for the rising star players.
There’s a lot of excitement going around, and we’re all hoping to see the buzz match its buildup. So far, the Malbon looks Day wore at The Sentry had clear traditional influence: the first look featured a monochrome white khaki-and-polo getup, followed by a navy pant and polo combo with a whimsical print that garnered quite a bit of attention. He followed up with another strong showing at the American Express with a monocromatic green version of those buzzy patterned pants, a crisp white pant, black shirt look and, one of our favorites on Day so far, a vintage-inspired green vest over light pleated pants and saddle golf shoes. You may recognize this look from Parmevik’s promo photos from the announcement—great style minds think alike.
