Australia is set for a LIV Golf event in mid-April next year, although after a recent scouting mission Down Under officials aren’t sure if Sydney or Queensland will host its 48-player field.

A tentative schedule for LIV’s second season has been circulating among LIV officials and includes five international events as well as nine in the United States. The season is slated to start start in February and end in September.

Australian Golf Digest has obtained a copy of the proposed schedule, which is not yet locked in. Sources have said Sydney is the front-runner to host a LIV event, although several venues in Queensland are also being explored due to the need for venues big enough to stage LIV’s infrastructure and post-round concerts.

It means Australia is one step closer to having a tournament on its shores with a field that will include Cameron Smith, Marc Leishman, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka among other other big-name players.

The tentative schedule:

*February – Florida (Course TBD)

*February – California (Course TBD)

*March – Tucson (Dove Mountain or the Gallery)

*April – Australia (Sydney or Queensland)

*April – Singapore (Sentosa GC)

*May – Washington DC

*June – Philadelphia (Course TBD)

*July – London (Centurion)

*July – Spain (Valderrama, the week before the Open Championship)

*August – New Jersey (Bedminster)

*August – West Virginia (Greenbrier)

*September – Chicago (Course TBD)

*September – Toronto or Mexico

*September – Florida (Trump Doral)

According to SI/Morning Read, who spoke with Australian two-time Major winner and LIV chief executive, Greg Norman, on Thursday at the LIV Boston event, LIV officials visited 24 venues in Australia last month. Only one course said no to hosting its $US25 million event.

“We’re in a really, really good, interesting position in Australia,” Norman told Morning Read. “We’ve got a lot of interest, high level interest from people working in government, that would love to have us in other states.”

Norman also confirmed that in Australia, LIV may rotate venues but give each one a minimum of two years.
