Michael Brennan’s stunning win at the Bank of Utah Championship yesterday made him the most unlikely man to earn a PGA Tour card this year. It also led to a golf graphic-of-the-year candidate.

Playing his first PGA Tour event as a pro, Brennan cruised to a four-shot victory at Black Desert Resort. But he was only in Utah because he got a late sponsor’s exemption into the tournament. And because the Korn Ferry Tour is on hiatus.

You see, Brennan had also recently dominated the PGA Tour Americas to earn his Korn Ferry Tour card. And he was all set to continue his professional journey there next year. But a funny thing happened on the way to the PGA Tour’s developmental circuit. And the Korn Ferry Tour had a funny response.

“Well, it was nice while it lasted, Michael Brennan! Congratulations on winning @BOUChampionship and earning your @PGATOUR card! #TOURBound,” the Korn Ferry Tour tweeted alongside that perfect graphic showing how long short Brennan had been a member of the tour.

Brennan wound up not even making one start on the Korn Ferry Tour as a member. What a whirlwind for the Wake Forest University graduate who turned pro in 2024!

Anyway, congrats to Michael on the big win. And congrats to the person who created that graphic. Give that person a raise.
