The Jordan Brand’s continued expansion into the golf shoe industry has been impossible to miss. What started as a way to bring some of Michael Jordan’s most iconic basketball shoe creations to the course has turned into a full-fledged lineup with the inclusion of performance-focused silhouettes like the all-new Air Rev.

Air Rev is the most technologically advanced golf shoe Jumpman has produced to date — and it all starts with its Flight Lock technology. A moveable Air Zoom unit, situated in the sidewall of the trail foot, provides pressure where golfers need it most during the back swing.

“With Flight Lock, your trail foot works like a gas pedal, and your lead foot works like a brake,” says Matt Plumb, Nike’s men’s sport footwear director. “The containment system offers a proprioceptive feeling, a reminder to the athlete: ‘When I swing back, I want to push off the Air Zoom unit on my trail foot.'”

The lead foot shoe is equipped with Formula23 foam that’s designed to provide stability without sacrificing comfort. Because the two units are interchangeable, right- and left-handed golfers can swap the Air Zoom and Formula23 with minimal effort.

An advanced lacing system and leno weave strap allow golfers to customize the fit and feel of the shoe while also keeping their foot secure throughout the round. The goal behind the entire Flight Lock system is simple: improve clubhead speed and impact efficiency through an improved rate of rotation from the ground up.

The Flight Lock system is combined with an integrated traction pattern on the sole that was created using advanced pressure mapping for stability purposes. A waterproof outer ensures the shoes will stay dry, even if you routinely play in the elements.

The Air Rev is designed to do it all on the course in a modern look that’s sure to garner attention.

“The future of golf isn’t tied to its past,” said Michael Jordan. “For the next generation, it’s bolder and more modern. Jordan Brand Golf blends performance, innovation and iconic style, building a future where the players, not the past, define what’s next.”

The Jordan Brand Air Rev retails for $275 and will be available in North America on May 14 through Jordan’s official website and select retail partners. An official global launch date will be announced in the coming months.
