Wilson

Staff Model

The big changes in Wilson’s wedges can be measured in the small space occupied by the diameter of a typical fishing line. That’s how much closer the spacing is on the new groove pattern compared to its predecessor. By moving the grooves closer by only .017 inches, more milled scoring lines contact the ball during a typical wedge impact. Engaging more grooves provides more opportunity to impart spin, and that’s especially useful on half-wedge shots that don’t fully compress the ball. Speaking of grooves, the larger Staff Model HT stretches its grooves all the way across the face. This provides more contact points, particularly on open-face shots. The line-up also adds a new sole design for the standard shape that allows for more relief on the trailing edge and heel of the sole.

SPECS 12 options (48 to 60 degrees); 3 sole grinds

Reviewer profile

“Good all-around performer. Easy to open up and hit off tight lies. Soft feel yet good feedback on poorly struck shots.”
