Charlie Woods made a big improvement in his second attempt to qualify for the U.S. Open, but it still wasn’t enough to advance past local qualifying.
The 16-year-old son of 15-time major champ Tiger Woods shot a three-over-par 75 at Wellington (Fla.) Golf Club on Thursday. He was seven shots short of moving on to final qualifying.

Woods was one of a record 10,202 entries received by the USGA for this year’s U.S. Open. He shot a nine-over par 81 at The Legacy Golf & Tennis Club last year in his first local qualifying attempt as a 15-year-old. He qualified for his first U.S. Junior Amateur later in the year.
The 2025 U.S. Open will be held June 12-15 at Oakmont Country Club.
