The PGA Tour remains in California for the third consecutive week, but this time it’s at Pebble Beach for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the second signature event of the year.

That means drastic changes have been made to the format, the field and the purse, as all detailed here by our Dave Shedloski. For starters, the field has been whittled down to only 80 players and will be contested at only Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill. Amateurs will only play the first two days in the pro-am portion.

Justin Rose won the event last year by three shots and he’s back to defend his title. This marks the first time World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has played in the tournament and Rory McIlroy is making his PGA Tour season debut, playing at Pebble Beach for the first time since 2018. McIlroy has played twice in Dubai to start the year, finishing second and first respectively.

“It’s good to be back,” McIlroy said. “It’s a different format and having most of the best players in the world here is a really good thing for the tournament. I’m excited for what’s hopefully going to be a great week and hopefully the weather cooperates. We’ll go from there. Yeah, good to be back.”

Nick Dunlap is also making his professional debut, after winning the American Express in Palm Springs two weeks ago. Viktor Hovland played in the Sentry to start the year but hasn’t played the past three weeks. He’s at Pebble this week.

The star-studded field is playing for a whopping $20 million purse, with the winner taking home $3.6 million for a victory. Check back here shortly after the event Sunday for updates below.
