XXIO 13 drivers, fairway woods, hybrids: The XXIO 13 lineup of driver, fairway woods and hybrids stays true to the high-end brand’s commitment to enhancing the distance potential for moderate swing-speed golfers. Among the noteworthy initiatives besides its ultralight shaft and overall lighter total weights, these woods feature upgrades to the face structure (known as “rebound frame”) to create more overall flex and a tweak to the aerodynamic crown feature (called “ActivWing”) that improves a player’s control of the clubface angle at impact for more consistency. XXIO Rebound Drive II golf balls: This three-piece ball, an all over update of the orignal Rebound Drive, mixes a soft, low-compression core and a softer cover with a firmer (“high repulsion”) layer in between. The mix of soft, firm and soft is meant to boost ball speed while providing a soft feel (the reported compression is in the 40s). The intent is to combine the distance advantages of ionomer-cover balls with the feel and spin of urethane-cover balls by featuring a multilayer construction and a special ionomer-blended cover designed for more greenside spin than typical ionomer-based covers. The 338-dimple pattern are designed to maximize higher flight, while the multilayer construction is tuned to improve energy transfer on full swings and enhance feel on partial swings and putts. $50 per dozen, in white, lime yellow, pink.
