A woman crashed her car on the eighth hole of a California golf course, but managed to avoid any serious injuries. She wasn’t as fortunate, however, when it came to avoiding some golf jokes from the local police department.
Let’s take you to Eagle Springs Golf Club in Friant, California, where foggy conditions apparently led to a driver running a stop sign and launching some 40 feet off the road. Despite the scary incident, both the woman and the car seemed to survive in pretty good shape.
The California Highway Patrol in Fresno reported, “Thankfully the intersection was clear of traffic and she suffered only very minor injuries.” But then they took it as an opportunity to make a PSA about safe driving – and golf etiquette. Here’s the post that includes a couple of crazy photos:
“Daily Reminder: Please reduce your speed during fog conditions if you must drive. Buckle-Up, roll windows down to listen for approaching traffic and turn on low-beam headlights. Oh, and repair all divots… golf etiquette!”
Talk about a random dagger. And they tossed in some golf jokes as hashtags for good measure, including #bogey, #nomulligansallowed, #badcaddy. Not to mention the big ol’ “FORE!!!” to start the message. Now that’s what we call adding insult to (minor) injury!
Anyway, thankfully no one was hurt. And as Golfweek points out, the woman actually found a bit of a hidden gem in this Johnny Miller public design that opened in 1990. So at least she didn’t have to hear Johnny critiquing her driving. Yet.
