Big Bertha Fusion Driver (above)

THE Big Bertha Fusion driver pushes the boundaries of forgiveness like no Callaway club ever has. The key benefit? More forgiveness means straighter flight and longer distance on mis-hits. Callaway succeeded in dramatically raising the head’s MOI measurement by developing a revolutionary clubhead design that starts with an aerospace-grade titanium exoskeleton called an Exo-Cage. It is fitted with a crown and sole composed of the ultra-light, super-strong triaxial carbon. This revolutionary material is more than 65 per cent lighter than titanium, and more than 35 per cent thinner than the company’s previous forged composite material. This allows Callaway to position 35.4 grams in strategic areas of the head to optimise the centre of gravity and increase the MOI by up to 17 per cent. The Big Bertha Fusion also incorporates Callaway’s Speed Step technology, devised with the help of aerospace experts, to enhance the head aerodynamics, promoting faster clubhead speeds. Big Bertha Fusion is available in two shaft lengths; a 44.5-inch length for enhanced control and tighter dispersion, and a 45.5-inch length for greater distance potential.  RRP: $599.99

Big Bertha Fusion Fairway Woods

Callaway

THE Big Bertha Fusion Fairway Woods reach a new level of forgiveness by fusing Callaway’s industry-leading, multi-material technologies into one club. By applying an extremely high MOI design and head shape, golfers will increase the quality and accuracy of their off-centre hits. The crown is composed triaxial carbon material and weighs in at just 5.8g. Remarkably, this crown is 78 per cent lighter than a titanium crown, which allows Callaway to position weight in strategic areas of the head to optimise the centre of gravity and increase MOI. And the Hyper Speed Face Cup promotes dramatically higher ball speeds all across the face, leading to more distance at every impact location. RRP: $389.99

Big Bertha OS Hybrid

Callaway

The Big Bertha name has long been synonymous with distance and forgiveness, and the Big Bertha OS hybrid delivers new levels of both thanks to its deeper body, larger and faster face, and next-generation Face Cup technology. Any player seeking a hybrid that’s easy to launch high and long will want Big Bertha OS in the bag. Its next-generation Hyper Speed Face Cup promotes faster ball speed across the face, especially on off-centre hits. A larger and more flexible face helps in two ways: 1) The added size gives you more area to make contact with. 2) The added flexibility pushes the COR closer to the USGA limit, promoting faster ball speed for more distance. Designed with the assistance of aerodynamic experts, Callaway’s Speed Step Technology improves airflow to promote faster clubhead speed for more distance. RRP: $379.99

Big Bertha OS Irons

Callaway

THE Big Bertha OS irons incorporate a revolutionary clubhead construction, the Exo-Cage. This technology promotes more distance in an entirely new way. How? The Exo-Cage’s combination of strength and light weight allows Callaway engineers to distribute more discretionary weight into strategic locations to promote more forgiveness and to allow the company’s next-generation 360 Face Cup technology to function more efficiently.
RRP (per iron): $199.99 (steel), $234.99 (graphite)

Z Series Drivers

Srixon

SRIXON Sports Australasia has released its new Z Series drivers, designed to deliver the greatest distance and control in Srixon history. The new drivers – Z565 and Z765 – empower golfers to conquer the toughest of courses by combining advanced Srixon flight technologies built into the head and shaft that result in an increase of 4.4 metres over the previous model. This means golfers can swing hard and enjoy a highly stable trajectory with minimal vertical and horizontal variance. To provide increased distance with new Z Series drivers, Srixon also increased the size of the high COR area by expanding the sole and crown flares of the cup face. They also ‘stretched’ the face more than the previous model to improve off-centre impact distance over a greater area. The end result is a higher COR area, maximising forgiveness by increasing ball speed on low impact for more distance. RRP: $559 (including Miyazaki Kaula shaft)

Z Series Fairway Woods, Hybrids and Utility

Srixon

The new Srixon Z Series fairway woods (Z F65: 3+, 3, 4 and 5) hybrids (Z H65: 2, 3 and 4) and utility irons (Z U65: U2, U3 and U4) are available now and have been designed with optimal performance technology by loft. The 3+, 3 and 4-woods feature a high-COR, low-spin design to deliver maximum distance with control. The design of the 5-short wood is focussed on stable flight distance and directional accuracy. Like the drivers in the new series, these woods feature increased COR across the face, while the new Stretch Flex Cup Face technology creates a bigger sweet spot. In addition, a strategically placed crown step lowers the CG, which promotes a high launch angle and low spin. Weight pads are positioned in the front heel and toe portions for increased lateral MOI, adding stability across the face at impact and increasing the lateral high-COR area by 13 per cent as compared to the previous model.

The hybrids feature an Arc Support Channel in the crown that helps reduce the variance in distance between impact position on the face. This channel is progressively deeper as loft increases to help deliver optimal spin.

The utility irons feature a head with the same size as the Z565 iron. Like the previous model, the utility irons feature hollow construction for a higher initial launch. In addition, the use of ultra-soft iron S20C head material in the body helps realise the smoothest, most consistent feel. RRP: $410 (fairway wood with Miyazaki Kaula shaft); $315 (hybrid); $295 (utility iron).

Z Series Irons

Srixon

The Z Series irons allow golfers to swing through the ball with confidence and take dead-aim from any lie. In addition, like the Z Series offers the smoothest, most consistent feel of precision-forged soft head material. Updated after insights from tour players, the design features a larger face and the latest evolution of the V-shaped Tour V.T. Sole, which has been rated highly since its introduction. The new Tour V.T. Sole has been modified to move even more efficiently through the turf, reducing impact resistance and tightening shot dispersion for maximum consistency and control. Based on feedback from tour pros, the design features a bigger face for increased forgiveness. Compared to the previous model, the head features a rounder shape and the end result is enhanced control. Ultra-soft S20c head material, with a new special heat treatment (only for the Z765 and Z965) enhances the feeling of grip on the ball and the soft impact feel that characterises the Z Series irons.

The finish of the irons includes Double Laser Milling, a popular feature on the previous model, while the groove area is 5 per cent larger. These two features combine to make spin control more consistent in wet conditions or rough. RRP: $235 per iron (with Miyazaki Kaula carbon shaft)
