You get all sorts of celebrities dusting off their clubs for tournament pro-ams – movie stars, TV presenters, sporting legends, politicians… the list goes on.

In Queensland, so long a dominate force in rugby league on the back of its star-studded State of Origin team and NRL powerhouse clubs Brisbane Broncos and North Queensland Cowboys, celebrities don’t come much bigger than Johnathan Thurston.

The man known as “J.T.” was paired with another member of Australian sporting royalty – 2013 Masters champion Adam Scott – in what must have been a dream pairing for their amateur partners, not to mention the gallery following them.

Ha! Never in doubt, J.T. And that laugh was reportedly heard echoing down Cavill Avenue in Surfers Paradise.
