No golfers were harmed in the making of this video. But golf’s ‘mad scientist’ nearly became his own experiment at LIV Golf Dallas.

Bryson DeChambeau, who’s made it clear on his YouTube channel that he’ll give anything a go, found himself facing a tricky ‘flyer’ at this week’s LIV Golf event after an ill-fated attempt to throw a boomerang — yes, a BOOMERANG! – left him ducking for cover.

The stunt began innocently enough. Ripper GC veteran Matt Jones, a proud Aussie, was trying his hand at this symbol of Australian indigenous culture on a grassed area near the tournament carpark. The goal, of course, is to master the correct technique to see the boomerang return to the thrower after travelling in a circular flight path. As the audio – and caption! – suggests, Jones wasn’t overly impressed with his efforts. Neither was a passing DeChambeau, it seems.

“That’s my car!,” DeChambeau joked after watching Jones’ failed attempt crash into a nearby tree.

Intrigued by what he saw, DeChambeau came over to see what was going on. Jones then gave the Crushers GC skipper a quick demo on how to properly throw a boomerang and, well, let’s just say it came back… with speed!

Yikes! The former US Open champ barely dodged the projectile, ducking at the last second as it whizzed by his melon.

All in good fun. To be fair to Bryson, that was a pretty impressive first attempt. I mean, the boomerang DID come back.

If this stunt proved anything, it’s that Bryson remains a true man of the people … and culture worldwide.
