Viktor Hovland, certified good bloke.

Hovland, fresh off of capturing the Memorial on Sunday afternoon, was still in the Columbus area Monday morning, and for good reason: He was serving as caddie to friend and former Oklahoma State teammates Zach Bauchou as Bauchou attempts to make it through final US Open qualifying:

According to the Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis, Bauchou asked Hovland last Tuesday if the Norwegian would loop for him on golf’s longest day, and Hovland accepted. It appears Hovland is keeping his promise despite his victory—that went to a playoff, no less—on one of the most physically and emotionally draining tests on the PGA Tour.

Hovland, now No. 5 in the Official World Golf Ranking, will enter the US Open as one of the tournament favourites, finishing runner-up at last month’s PGA Championship along with a T-7 at the Masters and T-3 at the Players Championship.

The 2023 US Open begins next week at Los Angeles Country Club. Matt Fitzpatrick is the defending champ.
