Tommy Fleetwood would be the current world No.2 if the Official World Golf Ranking used a one-year points gathering period instead of two. So right now, yes, it’s good to be Tommy Fleetwood.

The Englishman, who won the Open de France last weekend, will be among the favourites at each of the next three ‘Open’ tournaments: this week’s Irish Open, next week’s Scottish Open and a week later at the British Open at Royal Birkdale (which is in Southport, Fleetwood’s home town).
