The USGA announced overnight that Los Angeles Country Club will add two more Opens to its line-up, starting with the US Women’s Open in 2032 and the US Open in 2039. The heralded LACC will host the US Open next June and has previously hosted three USGA championships, including the 2017 Walker Cup.

The membership voted to add the two events over the weekend.

“We could not be more excited to bring our two biggest national championships to the Los Angeles Country Club and extend our relationship with the club that dates back more than 90 years,” said John Bodenhamer, USGA chief championships officer. “This is a tremendous sports town, an enthusiastic golf community and home to a great venue for championship golf.”

Los Angeles Country Club was established in 1897 and has two 18-hole layouts that sit on 320 acres over overlook the city. Gil Hanse restored the championship North Course in 2010.

“The Los Angeles community embraces major sporting events, and our membership is honored to host the game’s best women and men on our iconic North course in the years to come,” said Dick Shortz and John Chulick, co-chairs of LACC’s US Open Committee.

The North Course hosted the 1930 US Women’s Amateur, when Glenna Collett Vare captured the fifth of her record six titles. In 1954, Foster Bradley Jnr defeated Al Geiberger to claim the US Amateur title, and the US defeated Great Britain and Ireland, 19-7, in the 2017 Walker Cup.

Los Angeles Country Club will become the third US Open venue in Southern California when Matt Fitzpatrick returns to defend his championship next year. It’ll join Riviera and Torrey Pines. Riviera and San Diego Country Club have hosted the US Women’s Open in the past and the 2032 event will mark the third time the women’s championship will be played in Southern California. Riviera is set to hose the 2026 Women’s Open.
