Let’s get this out of the way: Titleist’s latest “Dot” golf ball release isn’t the one golfers have been clamouring for. The Pro V1x “Double Dot” prototype remains a tour-only offering, but that doesn’t diminish the announcement of Pro V1 “Left Dot” — a CPO (Custom Performance Option) with a cult following in the gear ranks.
What makes the Left Dot so unique? It comes down to the high gradient core construction, which helped steepen the so-called “spin slope.” Translation: You get a noticeable drop in full-swing spin (especially off the driver) while keeping the short-game control Pro V1 is known for.
“I’ve always put a lot of spin on the golf ball,” said PGA Tour player Tony Finau. “Right away, [Pro V1 Left Dot] caught my eye because of the ball flight. I think if you can control your ball flight, you can control the distance. And it’s been such a reliable ball flight for me from the first time that I hit it … I can count on the golf ball in crosswinds, into the wind, downwind. I know how far the golf ball is going to go.”

That breakthrough tech eventually made its way into the 2023 Pro V1 and Pro V1x redesigns and is still core to the current 2025 models. In other words, Left Dot wasn’t just a tour experiment—it was the blueprint.
Titleist’s R&D team uses CPO balls like Left Dot as real-world test beds. Thousands of player fittings help identify patterns in launch conditions and shot preferences, and in 2025 alone, about 3 percent of high-level fittings have ended with a Left Dot recommendation. That might sound small, but in a world where ball fitting is hyper-personal, it’s a meaningful slice of the pie.
Initially released to the public in 2021, Pro V1 Left Dot was snapped up by golfers who wanted to try the prototype.
Instead of capitalising on the incredible demand, Titleist chose to keep Pro V1 Left Dot as a limited offering and focus on its three retail models in the Pro V1 lineup (V1, V1x and V1x Left Dash).
Nothing changes with the latest Pro V1 Left Dot drop — it remains a limited release model that will more than likely be around until Titleist runs out of its allotted quantity.
Since Pro V1 Left Dot was released on tour, it’s recorded 30 PGA Tour wins, including two majors. Finau, Justin Rose and Jake Knapp are just a few of the high-profile names current playing the Left Dot version.
Titleist Pro V1 Left Dot will be available September 23 through titleist.com.
