It will be a Presidents Cup reunion of sorts when Tiger Woods makes his way to the first hole at Torrey Pines’ South course alongside Patrick Reed and Charley Hoffman on Friday morning, Australian time. Only this time, Tiger will be teeing it up.

The US PGA Tour announced tee-times and pairings for the first and second rounds of the Farmers Insurance Open and there will be a lot of eyes on the trio of Americans. Of course, most will be fixated on Woods, who will make his first official US Tour start since missing the cut at this event last year.

The trio will play the more difficult South course in the first round and the North course on day two. Woods and Reed bonded during the 2016 Ryder Cup in which Woods was the US vice-captain overseeing a pod of four players that included the five-time tour winner who idolised Tiger growing up.

“He has nothing else to prove,” Reed said in November. “People are putting all these expectations on him. Is he gonna come back? Is he gonna play well? Who cares? We’re just glad to have him back. We all want a healthy Tiger.”

Woods underwent a fourth back surgery last April, but returned to action at the Hero World Challenge last month, where he finished T-9 in an 18-man field. The former world No.1 has eight career wins as a pro at Torrey Pines, including the 2008 US Open.
