Tiger Woods competed in his first Major since 2015 at last week’s Masters. Luckily for golf fans, they won’t have to wait as along before his next Major appearance.
The USGA announced overnight, Australian time, that Woods has officially entered the 2018 US Open field. This year’s tournament will be at Shinnecock Hills, which last hosted the event in 2004. To coincide with the news, the USGA released a video of Woods giving his thoughts on the Southampton venue.

Woods, who’s captured 14 Majors in his career, has won the US Open three times. This will be the final year of his 10-year exemption from his 2008 victory at Torrey Pines. However, in the scenario that Woods fails to qualify for next year’s championship, he’s expected to receive a special invite as Pebble Beach, host to the 2019 tournament, was also the site of his record-breaking win in 2000.
In two previous appearances at Shinnecock, Woods (as an amateur) withdrew from the 1995 event with a sore neck, and finished T-17 in 2004. The 42-year-old missed the cut in his most recent US Open at Chambers Bay in 2015.
In six outings this year, Woods has finished inside the top-25 four times, highlighted by a runner-up at the Valspar Championship. He tied for 32nd at the Masters.
