Tiger Woods is arguably the greatest golfer of all time with his 15 majors, 82 PGA Tour wins, and countless incredible highlights. He’s also still human. And on Tuesday night he went viral for a blooper on the golf course.
Well, a blooper in the friendly confines of the SoFi Center, that is. Woods was back in action, but unfortunately for his Jupiter Golf Links squad, the most memorable moment was one the golf legend would like to forget.
After a great drive on the 13th hole, Woods looked to his team for a yardage for his approach shot. He heard someone say “Ninety-nine” and he took that quite literally. He also hit what he thought was a perfect shot. The only problem? Woods had ONE HUNDRED and 99 yards. And tour pros and caddies often don’t mention that “one hundred” part when it’s pretty obvious.
Not surprisingly, the mixup – you can hear Tiger’s team wondering what he’s doing with a wedge – leading to an accidental layup on a par 4 had Jupiter teammates Kevin Kisner and Tom Kim howling with laughter. Have a look:

Tough scene. And it didn’t get much better as Woods went on to lose the hole after making double bogey. On the bright side, the match against New York Golf Club was a foregone conclusion at that point as Jupiter wound up losing 10-3.
To Tiger’s credit, he’s got a lot going on with the recent death of his mum, the ongoing PGA Tour-Saudi PIF negotiations and the lingering injuries he’s dealing with. And that extra 100 yards isn’t quite as obvious when you’re hitting into a giant screen. He also faced the music moments later when ESPN’s Marty Smith asked him about the blunder.

“I heard 99 yards so I went out there and hit it 100 yards, and one of the most embarrassing moments of my golf career just happened,” Woods said with a smile. “I just screwed up. That was embarrassing.”
Indeed, it was. That being said, 99.99 of golfers would kill to have flushing a sand wedge 100 yards be one of their most embarrassing golf moments ever. So, don’t sweat it too much, GOAT.
