Tiger Woods’ former caddie Steve Williams will reveal never-before-heard golf stories about their famed partnership during an exciting new episodic podcast series beginning this week.

Chasing Majors sees Williams divulge hilarious and insightful anecdotes, ranging from Woods’ surprising attitude towards prizemoney and rivalries with other players, to lucky charms he carried in bag – and even the chaos which followed Woods and Williams whenever the superstar played tournaments overseas.

There are plenty of stories from PGA Tour events, Ryder Cups and Presidents Cups but Chasing Majors will focus on the 13 Majors that Woods won with Williams on the bag over a rollercoaster 12-year partnership.

It is the first time New Zealander Williams has sat down for an entire podcast series.

Chasing Majors will have 13 episodes, each lasting about one hour, beginning with the 1999 PGA Championship at Medinah and concluding with the storybook 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines. The first two episodes are available in the Apple Podcasts store and Spotify, while two more episodes will be published every week leading up to the Masters.

Each episode will include the exciting build up and aftermath of the iconic victories.

Chasing Majors is hosted and produced by Australian Golf Digest’s Evin Priest, who sat down with Williams to record a light-hearted, fun and informative oral history of what it was like to caddie for Woods during the American great’s world-beating prime.

Williams opens up about his working relationship with Woods, the pressure and scrutiny of caddieing for arguably the world’s biggest athlete and what was involved in preparing Woods for the four Majors each year.

Hardcore golf fans will also soak up Williams’ stories about Woods’ practice habits, on-course discussions and equipment while casual golf fans will revel in the dynamic of Woods and Williams’ relationship on golf’s biggest stage.

Episode 1 explores the early days of Woods and Williams – including “the worst golf shot” Williams ever saw a pro hit (hint … it was hit by Woods) – before moving onto the famous ’99 PGA Championship when Woods stared down a swashbuckling Sergio Garcia in Chicago.

Episode 2 dives deep into the 2000 US Open at Pebble Beach, including the Nike golf ball that took Woods to another stratosphere and the unbelievable golf Woods played en route to the most dominant victory in Major championship history.

You might be wondering, why did Williams do a podcast after all these years?

“I thought maybe it would be selfish to sit on some of these stories if I was asked to tell them,” Williams told Australian Golf Digest.

“I got to experience things nobody else ever will so it’s an honour to share them with the golf world. I’m just a guy from New Zealand and I know how rare these moments were.

“I had never done a podcast series before and I didn’t realise it was going to be as fun as it turned out to be. My time with Tiger, it was such a whirlwind that I didn’t ever stop to smell the roses really. So I quite enjoyed reliving all those memories. I’m a golf nut like all of us so I hope golf fans enjoy them.

“Tiger is such a phenomenal champion and I don’t think we will ever see someone with the drive he had and still has. We were all so lucky to witness what he achieved. I was just happy to be a part of it.”
