On December 30, Tiger Woods reached yet another milestone, only this time it happened off the course as Woods marked the end of his 50th spin around the sun. Yes, that’s right, The Big Cat has officially reached the big Five-O, and to celebrate he’s throwing a birthday bash for the ages.

According to a report by Front Office Sports, Woods will celebrate his 50th birthday on January 14 with a 300-person gala at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida. The evening – which will be sponsored by financial firm Ernst & Young – is said to feature a musical performance by Jon Bon Jovi, a dress code stipulating “a touch of red” and a menu pulled from Woods’ five Masters Champions Dinners, including everything from chicken fajitas to the legendary “Augusta roll”. The guest list will be limited to a circle of 300 of Woods’ closest friends in order to keep things “intimate”. Needless to say, the GOAT has a slightly different definition of the word “intimate” than the rest of us.

Tiger Jam it ain’t, but the event is poised to be just as lavish as Woods’ early aughts extravaganzas. That’s because the party is also doubling as the launch of the TGR Foundation’s 30th anniversary campaign.

“It’s a lot more than a birthday party, and it’s a lot more than an event,” TGR Foundation chief executive Cyndi Court told Front Office Sports. “It’s an event that’s culminating a year of work, and then launching a year of hard work going forward, and what we’re going to do as we expand and grow.”

The TGR Foundation, Woods’ primary charitable outlet for the past three decades, has set its fundraising goal for the evening at a humble $US50 million. That money will go towards expanding the TGR Learning Labs program, which provides free science, technology, engineering, art and maths career programs for high-school students. With a guest list said to include the likes of Justin Thomas, “Good Morning America” co-host Michael Strahan and Atlanta Falcons/Atlanta Drive GC owner Arthur Blank, the TGR Foundation should have little trouble reaching its goal.

As for Woods’ on-course aspirations, those remain in flux as the 15-time major champion recovers from his latest back surgery. There remains hope that he may return by the end of the TGL season, but if not, Woods’ 50th birthday bash is proof he can still make as much of a difference off the course as he can on it.
