The debate over who should buy hole-in-one drinks rages on, but at one golf course, it’s the lucky player who gets a drink. And an expensive one at that.
We take you to Ardfin on the Isle of Jura in Scotland, where they give out special inscribed bottles of Jura whisky to those who make an ace (Great idea!). And where one golfer recently received the first such honor at the course that opened in 2017 for making the first-ever hole-in-one on the par-3 12th hole. Have a look:
Well, this may be the most epic Hole in One you could get.
At Ardfin, my good friend Tom (Metairie Club Champion) got a hole in one on the 12th hole.
The first one ever!
His prize? A bottle of Jura Whiskey kept just for this moment, inscribed with the golf hole.

That is classy move, indeed. And that must be one tough hole.
According to the course flyover video, the 207-yarder over water to a three-tiered green “will be a proper test of your game” and “depending on the pin and the wind, it could be anything from a 9-iron to a driver.”
And according to the course’s website, each bottle of Jura single malt is named after a hole there and they range in price from £2,500 to £10,000. Some courses will send you a framed flag and scorecard (I know from experience NBD . . . shout-out to Oak Hill!), but Ardfin’s hole-in-one gift is tough to top.
So, congrats to Tom on a heckuva shot and a heckuva prize. As if making a hole-in-one wasn’t enough of a prize in itself.
