A first-time winner has come out on top in each of the past six Major championships. After 36 holes at Erin Hills, where the top 18 names on the leaderboard have won a combined zero Majors, it looks as though we are headed for a seventh.
The rib injury that has troubled the Northern Irishman for much of this season has apparently healed to the extent that he has played “eight or nine” times in the last 10 days.
These guys aren’t among the favorites this week at Erin Hills – surprisingly in some cases – but under the right circumstances they could all find themselves in contention come Sunday.
