TaylorMade has announced a contract extension with world No.1 Scottie Scheffler.

Scheffler, who earned his second consecutive PGA Tour Player of the Year award on Wednesday, originally signed with TaylorMade in March 2022 after playing with the company’s irons since 2020. Scheffler proceeded to enjoy a breakthrough campaign, punctuated by capturing the Masters. The Texan continued his strong performance in 2023, posting a whopping 17 top-10 finishes in 23 starts, and won the tour’s flagship event, the Players Championship. Scheffler finished the year with one of the statistically best years in tour history, boasting the second-best strokes gained/tee-to-green mark in the ShotLink era and had the best adjusted scoring average of anyone not named Tiger Woods.

“The way I played the entire year, I think I maybe only had one or two starts that were – that I would categorise as not great,” Scheffler, who didn’t finish outside the top 12 at an event until July, said on Wednesday. “But other than that I had a lot of starts where I just played really solid golf and to do that for an entire season out here I think is very difficult. I’m very proud of that aspect of my game.”

In a statement, TaylorMade chief executive David Abeles said, “Scottie has ascended to the top of golf’s world ranking with an uncompromising commitment to hard work, continuous improvement in every facet of his game, a champion’s mindset, and an expectation to meet the highest standard for his golf equipment.”

Scheffler headlines a TaylorMade tour staff that includes Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa and Tommy Fleetwood. While he remains in the equipment testing phase, the company said it expects Scheffler to play its Qi10 driver, Qi10 3-wood and P7TW irons in 2024.
