On Tuesday (Wednesday AEDT), the hotly anticipated third season the PGA Tour docuseries ‘Full Swing’ premieres on Netflix. There will be plenty to laugh, cringe and cry at—from Xander Schauffele’s major breakthrough to Tom Kim’s Presidents Cup antics—but golf fans and casuals alike will all be tuning in for the same thing:

Scottie Scheffler’s arrest.

Golf fans in the US woke up on Friday, May 17th, 2024 (although Australian fans were watching the news coverage late that Thursday night) to news that Scottie Scheffler—the mild-mannered Masters champ and undisputed world No. 1—had been arrested at the PGA Championship for allegedly dragging a police officer with his vehicle while attempting to enter Valhalla Golf Club. The news sent shockwaves across the sports world, and naturally, Netflix cameras were on the scene, capturing all the surreal footage for ‘Full Swing.’ On Monday, the streaming giant released a preview of its upcoming episode on Scheffler’s arrest, and we are happy to report that it looks absolutely nuts.

Wild stuff. As we all know, Scheffler was released for his second-round tee time and went on to finish T-8. A few weeks later, the charges were eventually dropped, but golf fans were still left with more questions than answers. We don’t yet know if Netflix’s ‘Full Swing’ episode will provide those answers, but judging by this teaser, it will be packed with plenty of juicy details, including expanded footage of Scheffler’s conversation with a Louisville Police Officer while handcuffed in the back of a police cruiser. In the clip, the officer can be heard asking Scheffler a number of standard questions—including whether he had been drinking before arriving at the course—before lobbing up one of the single most ridiculous questions any suspect has ever been asked in the middle of an arrest:

“Is Tiger as good as they say he is?”

Now in the officer’s defence, he was not the arresting officer, and was simply tasked with transporting Scheffler to Louisville PD. He quickly realised Scheffler is not the kind of guy who frequents the rear seat of police cruiser, and began trying to calm Scheffler down with small talk. Still, asking if Tiger is really that good during the worst moment of a man’s adult life is tone deaf at best.

Thankfully for Scheffler, all’s well that end well, and he shook off the shock of his arrest to win the an Olympic gold medal, the Tour Championship and 2024 PGA Tour Player of the Year honours. We’re sure he won’t want to relive the morning of May 17th, but something tells us he’ll be the exception when ‘Full Swing’ Season 3 drops Tuesday, February 25th on Netflix.
