While the above image, generated by AI, is certainly taking the mickey, McIlroy’s passion for cricket is real.

While in India for this week’s DP World India Championship on the European circuit, the reigning Masters champion revealed he’s actually a cricket “sicko” who will sit down and watch Test matches.

He also said that when he’s in Melbourne for the Australian Open in December, he’ll be keeping a close eye on the Ashes series. The Australian Open will be held at Royal Melbourne from December 4-7, the same week that the Australian cricket team plays the second Test against England in Brisbane at the Gabba.

“I’m going to be in Australia later this year and The Ashes is going to be on … I don’t think I’ll be able to get to a game but with The Ashes being on,” he said. He also added that “I’d love to be here [in India] while a Test series is going on between India and England or India and Australia.”
