Every golfer knows the feeling of finding out your golf ball in a fried-egg lie in the bunker. It’s absolutely deflating, although as we saw on Thursday at Bay Hill, things could be much worse. You could hit your golf ball into a bunker and not find it. Sorry, Adam Hadwin. That was brutal.

But back to fried eggs – and not the good kind – they put every golfer in a tough spot. It’s a real get busy living or get busy dying situation. And in most cases, the golfer is dead from the moment he sees it.

But Rory McIlroy isn’t most golfers. During the opening round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the four-time major champ faced a fried egg on the par-4 15th hole. And he couldn’t have made it look any easier. Have a look as McIlroy blasts out to tap-in range:

That’s a touch of class right there, huh? Sure, McIlroy had plenty of green to work with, but he really couldn’t have made that look any easier.

After saving par, McIlroy birdied No.16 to move to three-under-par on the day at the PGA Tour signature event. However, he failed to get up and down from a bunker (Guess the lie was too good) on 18 to fall back to two-under, three shots off Wyndham Clark’s first-round 67.

Anyway, before your next round, here are some tips on playing from the dreaded fried egg. Although, you still probably won’t be as successful with it as Rory:
